You know how some days are just blah? They shouldn't be but sometimes they are. However, today is not one of those days. I had a wonderful weekend with my family. We had so much fun together. It started with "me & Mary time" on Friday. Mac & Mag go to school on Fridays but Mary Brook'e' is out. So, that's our run around together day. Sometimes we spend too much time in Hobby Lobby or hit a consignment sale. It just varies. This week, Brett and I got organized and made our menu for the week Thursday night along with the grocery list. Usually Brett is the shopper but since I had everything written down and such, MB and I got it done for him. As you know, we had some nasty weather this weekend. Brett had a meeting in Calera so he left around 7:15 that morning. I had my shower before he left, I had all the kids fed and ready to go, & had the oldest two at school by 8:50. Mary and I took off for Publix. Nasty weather was coming so we were on the clock. I had my handy little umbrella with wrist band, my clutch w/ wristband containing my debit card, phone, & keys, diaper bag (just in case with got stuck in there due to weather), list, & pen. We were set. I love organization! We walked in Publix at 9:14 & the bottom fell out. We flew through there & were loaded in the car and headed out by 9:45. Publix just makes it so easy to shop. When leaving, the rain had stopped but the sky looked pretty scary. We scooted down to Walmart anyway for diapers (much cheaper there). We were almost in full sprint and made it back to the car just in time for me to throw MB in her seat and me to get a little wet. After that, we headed to do some banking. MB fell asleep in the car. When we arrived home, I just left the car doors open, unloaded groceries, cleaned out the pantry, and let her snooze in the garage. Now, I don't normally journal this kind of stuff but I want to be able to look back and remember my Fridays with Mary. She is just a fun little shopping buddy. Her little laid back personality just goes with the flow. I love that sweet surprise baby of ours. Well, that night, the weather did get rough. We had several tornadoes in our area and we rode it out in my parents' basement. Several friends of mine had a good bit of damage. Thankfully, no one was injured. After it passed, we headed to get Mag some doughnuts 'cause that's just what you do after an afternoon filled with tornado sirens. Saturday morning, I got a whim so Brett and I took the kids to Tannehill for trade days. I'll post pics of that later. After that, we dyed & hid Easter eggs. Sunday, we had a great SS class and church service, & a wonderful pizza party in the parking lot at church last night with tons of neighborhood folks attending. Just a lovely weekend. I love Spring time, especially around Easter. I know we should think of what Jesus did for us each and every day but it's just driven home more at this time of year. I love my little family. It's crazy, hectic, & messy, but I'm trying to push my OCD aside and find the humor in it all. It's only taken me almost five years to get there. Better late than never. I got tickled yesterday while standing in the kitchen. I looked down and there were three very small people staring up at me all wanting whatever it was that I was eating. Sometimes it just hits me. We have three babies. And I mean babies. Mag is the oldest and she's just 4 and a half! Of course our lives are hectic! Our babies are awesome though. One of my favorite things right now is how they act when I take them to school. Maggie likes to take Mac in herself. She reminds me what he needs to bring that day, grabs his little hand, tells me "you get Mary, I've got Mac" and off they go. Mac walks in his room, leans over the little gate, hugs his big sister, and says "Have a good day, Maggie. I wuv you!" Sweet angels. Also, I'm so blessed to have them at Northport Baptist. They love it, I love it, they learn so much, & are taught about Jesus. Then, there is my job. I am able to make our house payment & still be able to take my kids to school, pick them up, & be home before Mac is up from his nap. And, on days like today, have time to blog. Yes, we are stressed at times, tired, broke, in need of sleep but, we are so blessed.
On another note, did anyone watch the TV Land awards last night?! Oh my goodness! I was just giddy as they panned the audience when it was coming on! Brett was laughing at me and Mag was asking, "How do you know all these people?!" Oh my, Theo, Vanessa, Rudy, Tootie, Jo, Blair, Mallorie, and my all time favorite...Alex P. Keeton! It was fantastic! Then, Brett and I started having the old people discussion. There is nothing good on t.v anymore. Really. What happened to "Must See T.V" nights? Time slots like, "The Cosby Show" at 7 followed but "Family Ties" at 7:30. Good, funny shows with morals and lessons that the entire family could watch without you having to hit the mute button. Lighthearted shows like "Perfect Strangers", "Who's the Boss", "Growing Pains" (Well, except for that out of the blue episode of Growing Pains where Sandy, Mathew Perry, was killed in a car wreck) Is all of that gone? So, we had to ask the question, is today's entertainment really that bad or are we just really that old? I say it's the first. I mean, take a look or listen to your t.v and radio. I am definitely not a prude nor very modest but some of it makes me blush. Man, I miss the 80's. We decided that we just may purchase dvd's of the good ol' shows for our kids to grow up with instead of all this garbage of today.
