"BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE"

It's December first, everyone! I love that it was so cold today. I don't like the fact that I'm running on 3 hours of sleep, thanks to Mary's nasty cold (or the fact that she just wanted to play all night) and that I had to go to Med Center this morning to get myself treated for a sinus infection. Two shots, meds, and nose spray. Now if that doesn't do it?! Since I didn't have to go to work until 1 today, I had soooo many other things on my list to get accomplished. Oh well. "Tomorrow is another day." Did you know that I was named after Melanie from "Gone with the Wind." Mom was hoping for a sweet child with the gentleness of the character but instead has always said she should have gone with Scarlett. I don't have anymore decorating to do but odds & ends and just things that I'd like to add. I'm a Christmas freak so our decor has been up since the beginning of November. And, that's not the earliest I've ever done it. You know your parent's saying, "As long as you're living under my roof..." Well, as soon as I moved out, the after Thanksgiving rule was out the window. I drive a reindeer, my radio station never leaves 96.5 and no one is allowed to change it. The only exception is when I'm rehearsing Christmas music for church. My cell phone plays "Santa Baby", the house is doodied up from top to bottom as is the outside. AND, my Christmas cards are diz-on! I always try to beat my cousin, so this year I managed to get them out the day after Thanksgiving. Brett told me yesterday that he loves my spirit. Good thing for both of us. With my timeline and asking him so very often (all throughout the day)to hop on a ladder, dig something out of the storage room, slapping his hand when he forgets and tries to change the radio station... this season wouldn't be so merry. I love that man and he truely loves me. If not, he'd have never walked that aisle. He had plenty of warning...from everyone. My rehearsal dinner. Oy. No one, I repeat, no one said a kind word about me. Not even my parents. That's a whole other story though. Good thing he just finds my quirkiness (nice word for it) endearing. Well, it's no longer Dec 1, Brett is sawing logs, and the chilluns are "nestled all snug in their beds with visions of sugarplums dancing round in their heads." Looks good so I'm hittin' the hay too. We'll see what tomorrow brings since Mac had some funky rash appear tonight. Ugh. BTW, just to clarify, I do know what the true meaning of Christmas is and never leave that out. The silly stuff and decor is tons of fun but ... God sent his son, Jesus, his perfect son, born of the virgin Mary, to this earth to live amoung us and 33 years later, save us. "And that's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown." -Linus
